Autism is a development disorder that affects a person's ability to communicate and interact socially. It is four times more prevalent in males than females. Currently autism is believed to affect one in every 166 people.
CPOAC is a non-profit organization with a goal to build a community center for Autistic Children where their needs will be provided for. We are a support group for the parents and caregivers of autistic children and a non-profit organization.
We have meetings each month designed to support parents raising children with diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum. Topics range from development and strategies to sharing humorous and poignant stories about members' experiences with their children.
Parents are finding that the school systems and insurance companies are not likely to support the needs and issues of autistic children. The growing support group hopes to win the attention of state officials in order to aid parents in receiving therapies, treatments and financial aid.
